Abstract Space
Geographic model or representation of the real world. For example, maps and globes are
abstractions of the real world or concrete space.
Concrete Space
Actual geographic space in the real world. Geographers approximate this space when they try
to represent it in a model or map.
Deduction
Inference in which the conclusion about particulars follows necessarily from general
theory.
Experiment
A controlled investigation designed to evaluate the outcomes of causal manipulations on
some system of interest.
Falsification
Falsification is a procedure used in science to test the validity of a hypothesis or theory.
Induction
Inference of a generalized conclusion from particular instances.
