Stage 1
A frog begins life as an egg in water. each tiny egg is protected by a thick, clear jelly.
Stage 2
A tadpole hatches from the egg. It breathes through gills. The tadpole eats water plants and
stores fat in its tail.
Stage 3
The tadpole begins to grow back legs
Stage 4
The tail begins to shrink as the front legs appear. Lungs form and the gills disappear.
Stage 5
The tail is almost gone. The tadpole becomes a frog. It hops out of the water.
Stage 6
The adult frog lives on land. It breathes through lungs and lives on land. its tail has
completely disappeared.
