mechanism of action
calcium, potassium, sodium channel blocker, alpha blocker, beta blocker, acts directly on myocardium to delay repolarization.
indications
vt, vf, svt, af, unstable vt in patients refractory to other therapy
contraindications
sick sinus syndrome, cardiogenic shock, sinus bradycardia, 2nd or 3rd degree AV block, hypersensitivity to Iodine or amiodarone
adverse rxns/side effects
hypotension, bradycardia, burning at IV site, prolonged QT, ataxia, fatigue, dizziness, pulmonary edema, progressive dyspnea,chf, n/v, cough
dose: cardiac arrest
300Mg IVP, can be followed one time in 3 to 5 minutes @ 150 Mg
dose: stable tachyarrhythmia
150mg in 50mL over 10minutes; 2.2g max in 24hrs
