interventicular spetum
wall of tissue
fossa ovalis
small depression in right atrium wall left over from fetal development
opening of coronary sinus
brings blood from surface of heart; small hole below I & S vena cava
chordae tendineae
connects valve to papillary muscles
papillary muscle
holds onto chordae tendineae and connects to left and right ventricle
trabeculae carneae
irregular muscular folds in ventricles
ligamentum arteriosum
attaches pulmonary trunk to aortic arch
interventricular septum
wall of tissue separating ventricles
fossa ovalis
small depression in right atrium wall left over from fetal development
opening of coronary sinus
brings blood from surface of heart; small opening below openings for superior and inferior vena cava
chordae tendineae
connects valve to papillary muscles
papillary muscle
holds onto chordae tendineae and connects to left and right ventricle
trabeculae carneae
irregular muscular folds in ventricles
ligamentum arteriosum
attaches pulmonary trunk to aortic arch
left coronary artery
come off base of ascending aorta on left side (not very visible on models)
circumflex branch
wraps around heart towards posterior along separation of left atrium and left ventricle
anterior interventricular branch
goes down interventricular septum anteriorly
right coronary artery
come off base of ascending aorta on right side and along separation of right atrium and right ventricle before splitting off into branches
posterior interventricular branch
goes down interventricular septum posteriorly
marginal branch
along middle of right ventricle vertically
coronary sinus
large bulge on posterior side
great cardiac vein
travels up division between anterior interventricular septum then along separation of left atrium and left ventricle
middle cardiac vein
travels up posterior interventricular septum
small cardiac vein
by marginal branch and along division of right atrium and right ventricle
brachiocephalic trunk
first branch off of aortic arch
left common carotid artery
middle of three branches off of aortic arch
left subclavian artery
very left (or lateral) of three branches off of aortic arch; goes to left arm
right common carotid artery
branches off of brachiocephalic trunk to the left
right subclavian artery
branches off of brachiocephalic trunk to the right; goes to right arm
