External, "earlike" flap that is composed of muscle from the atria
Auricle
Hollow, muscular organ that stores urine from the kidneys
Bladder
Bell-shaped muscle that separates the abdominal cavity from the thoracic cavity
Diaphragm
The two branches of the trachea that carry gases into and out of the lungs
Bronchi
Branches of the bronchi that no longer contain cartilage and eventually end in the alveoli
Bronchioles
A chemical released in 1 part of the body and affects a different part of the body

A type of gland that releases secretion through DUCTS.
exocrine gland
A type of gland that releases secretions through the bloodstream
endocrine gland
Controls the pituitary gland
hypothalamus
Releases 9 hormones; makes hormones that controls the function of other endocrine glands

Regulates calcium levels in the body

Releases thymosin (stimulates T cell production for the immune system)

Releases epinephrine and norepinephrine in response to stress ("fight or flight")

Releases melatonin (regulates our daily sleep/wake cycle)

Produces thyroxin (regulates metabolism)

Releases insulin and glucagon to regulate blood sugar levels

Produce estrogen and progesterone
