3 gov. branches order
Order of what happens in a bill process.
9 cards·by schoolgal
A citizen, organization or group suggests a new law to either the HOR or Senate of our Congress
(the Legislative branch)
#1
The house writes a draft of a law called a bill.
#2
The other house (HOR or Senate) is aloud to make changes to the bill in "committee".
#3
Both the Senate and the HOR need to vote. The bill will only continue if over half (51%) of both
houses agree. If not it "dies".
#4
If they agree, they send the bill to the president (the executive branch).
#5
The president can sign if he agrees with the bill. He may also VETO, or refuse the bill and it is
sent back to congress.
#6
If the president vetoes the bill, it may still continue in the process if 2/3 (67%) of congress
members vote for it.
#7
The bill is now a law!!!!!
#8
The Judicial branch can suggest laws for review if a court case shows that it may be against the
Constitution, or "unconstitutional"
