Tertiary Consumer:
the final organism in a food chain
Producer:
an organism that uses photosynthesis or another form of chemical synthesis to make its own
food
Consumer:
An organism that must eat producers or other consumers to survive
Decomposer/Detrivore
Eats waste from plants and animals. This is important in terms of recycling matter back into
the environment.
Abiotic:
Non-living factors in the environment
Community:
All the members of a species living in the same ecosystem
Biotic:
The living components of the environment
Predator:
An organism that hunts other organisms
Biodiversity:
When there is a great variety of organisms in an area
Prey:
An organism that gets hunted by other consumers
