Source Area
The cell being copied.

Destination Area
The cell receiving copied cell contents.
Paste Area
The cell being copied.
Copy Area
Small green square located in the lower-right corner of the heavy border around the active
cell that you drag to copy cells.
Fill Handle
Change the appearance of cell and/or cell contents to emphasize certain entries and make the
worksheet easier to read and understand.
Format
Indicates how characters are emphasized, such as bold, underline, and italic.
Font Style
Specifies size of characters.
Font size
Measurement used to determine size of font; a point is 1/72 of one inch in height.
Point Size
The color of the characters.
Font Colors
Defines the appearance and shape of the letters, numbers, and special characters. Also
called a font face.
Font
A predefined font, font size, and font color that you can apply to a cell.
Cell style
Creating a single cell by combining two or more selected cells.
Merging Cells
Separating merged cells into the original range of cells.
Splitting
Separate sheet in a workbook that contains only a chart.
Chart Sheet
Cell data that determines the size of elements (bars, columns, or pie slices) in a chart.
Data Series
Details about a file such as the project author, title, and subject.
Document properties
Document properties that are associated with all Microsoft Office files and include author,
title, and subject.
Standard properties
Document properties, including file system properties, such as the date you create or change
a file, and statistics, such as the file size.

Information that exists on paper.
hard copy
Information that exists on paper.
printout
Practices that involve reducing the electricity consumed and environmental waste
generated when using computers, mobile devices, etc.
Green computing
Printed copy with the short (8½″) edge at the top of the printout; the printed page is taller
than it is wide.
Portrait Orientation
Printed copy with the long (11″) edge at the top of the paper; the printed page is wider than it is
tall.
landscape orientation
Area on status bar where you can obtain a total, an average, or other information about the
numbers in a range.
AutoCalculate area
Excel mode that allows you to perform in-cell editing.
Edit Mode
Editing the contents of a cell directly in the cell.
in-cell editing
Default Excel mode that inserts the character and moves all characters to the right of the
typed character one position to the right.
Insert mode
Excel mode that replaces, or overtypes, the character to the right of the insertion point.
