Parts of a cell
13 cards·by BrideyLovely
Chloroplast
Gives the plant it green pigment and makes food for the plant during photosynthesis
Lysosomes
digest macromolecules and breaks down old organelles.
Flagellum
Tail-like organelle that propels the cell.
ER
Transports materials and manufactures lipids and proteins
Nucleolus
Found in the nucleus, hold genetic information
Nucleus
Controls all cell action. Produces ribosomes and stores proteins
Cell Membrane
Known as the plasma membrane, allows what goes in and out of the cell.
Mitochondria
Outer membrane, inner membrane, matrix. Makes energy for the cell, known as the power house.
Ribosomes
Found in the cytoplasm and ER, manufacture proteins.
Cilia
Needs ATP to function, hair like structure that work somewhat like the flagellum.
Chromosomes
Storage location for DNA, single strand of DNA
Golgi Apparatus
Packages items, creates new proteins/lysosomes
Va cuole
Membrane bound sack which contains enzyme and kills any dangerous material in the cell. Known
as the suicide sacs
