Privacy policy

Braineos (the App) is owned by X-meta Solutions Ltd (XMETA). This document outlines how XMETA will use the information you provide us via the App. If you have any questions or comments, email us at team@sproutee.com.

Your privacy is important

You needn't supply any personally identifiying information to browse the App, but if you want to take advantage of our cool features, you'll need to sign up with a username and email address. XMETA may amend this privacy policy without notification, and if so, any revisions will be available through the App.

Braineos is powered by Google App Engine

The App runs in Google App Engine, therefore users are also bound by Google's policies and terms, including but not limited to, the Google Privacy Policy, the Google Terms of Service and the Google Apps Acceptable Use Policy.

Log in with OpenID and Facebook Connect

You don't have to provide any personally identifiable information to visit the App, search for flashcards or to view publicly available flashcards. You will have to provide a username and email address if you wish to take advantage of many of the App's features. Account-related activities on the App, such as creating flashcards, requires log in either by OpenID or Facebook Connect. You can sign in to the App using your account with one of the OpenID providers listed on the the login page, or with your Facebook account. When you sign up, you provide us with a username and email address for use on the App. We will not display your email to other visitors or pass your details to others. Your unique username will be displayed to all other users.

Information we collect

Email address. We'll only use your email address to operate, maintain, and provide to you the general and personalised features and functionality of the App, and we won't use your email address to send commercial or marketing messages without your consent or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in or opt-out. XMETA reserves the right to use your email address without further consent for non-marketing or administrative purposes (such as notifying you of major App changes or for customer service purposes). We also reserve the right to contact you regarding violation of this privacy policy, the terms of use or any other law or applicable regulation or policy.
Aggregate usage data. XMETA may collect data on all users, including data about their usage of the App and its various features, but it is anonymous except as described below under 'IP addresses'. We use this information to improve and enhance the App.
Content. Any personal information that you voluntarily disclose within the App (e.g. in flashcards) becomes available to other users of the App authorised to view that content and can be collected and used by them.
Username. Your username (not your email address) is displayed against the content you create on the App.
Location. You may choose to provide your location, if you do so this, information will be displayed to other users on your profile page.
Web address. You may choose to provide a personal website, if you do so, this information will be displayed to other users on your profile page.
Cookies. Account-related use of the App relies on the use of cookies for purposes such as session handling. Except as described in 'Sharing your information', no personally identifiable information stored in the XMETA cookies will be shared with outside companies for any purpose without your permission.
Storage and disclosure of your activity. By using the App, you understand that your account-related activities are saved as a matter of operation. To the extent that your activities include personally identifiable information, such information may be saved by us and may be disclosed to other users of the App as determined by access permissions. XMETA may disclose logs in legal proceedings in the same manner as other personally identifiable information as described in 'Sharing your information'.

IP addresses

XMETA collects logs of IP addresses of visitors to the App for administrative and analytical purposes. XMETA does not, as matter of routine, collect any personally identifiable information through its collection of IP address. However, in cases of suspected abuse or service problems, XMETA may use an IP address in conjunction with other personally identifiable information to enforce our terms of service and/or to protect the App, its users, or others who may be affected. Except as provided in 'Sharing your information' XMETA will not share personally identifiable information associated with IP addresses with third parties without your permission. XMETA may share data about aggregate IP addresses, but such data does not include personally identifiable information.

Sharing your information

XMETA may share personally identifiable information with third parties in the following cases:

to investigate abusive behavior or suspected violations of the terms of use of either the App
to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, to prevent fraud or imminent harm, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims
in the event that XMETA is acquired by or merged with another company, XMETA will transfer information about you to that other company

Notifcation of changes

XMETA may use your information in new, unanticipated ways not previously disclosed in our privacy policy. We will post policy changes to our App at this location to notify you of any changes and will use for these new purposes only data collected from the time of the policy change forward. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back here, periodically.

Third party links

The App may contain external links. When you click an external link, the third-party companies receive your IP address when serving such content to you and may also utilize other technologies such as cookies or web beacons. While XMETA doesn't provide any personally identifiable information to these third-party companies, we cannot and do not guarantee their privacy policies and practices. XMETA's privacy policy does not apply to third-party sites and we cannot control the activities, products or services of any third-party site that may be reached through links from the App.

Acceptance

This privacy policy is incorporated into and subject to the terms and conditions of XMETA's terms of use, also available on the App. Use of the App and the services offered thereby is subject to your compliance with the terms of use, which constitutes a legal agreement between you and XMETA. Each time you use the App and the services offered thereby you signify and acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by the terms of use, which incorporates the privacy policy and any applicable posted guidelines. Use of the App and any services offered thereby signifies the acceptance of the terms of use and the privacy policy. If you do not agree with the terms of either of these documents, do not provide XMETA with any information and do not use the App or the services offered thereby. Your continued use of the App and the services offered thereby in light of changes to this privacy policy, the terms of use, or to the relevant principles thereof will signify your acceptance of the changes.
